Subsidized Indian Tires Targeted in U.S. Duty Review

Published Date: 7/11/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. Commerce Department found that some Indian makers of big off-the-road tires got unfair government help in 2023. This means extra taxes might be added to these tires when they come to the U.S. Companies involved should pay close attention and can share their thoughts before the final decision. This could affect prices and trade starting now through the end of 2023.

Possible Import Taxes on Indian OTR Tires

The Commerce Department preliminarily found that some producers/exporters of certain new pneumatic off-the-road (OTR) tires from India received countervailable subsidies for the period January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023. That preliminary finding means extra taxes (countervailing duties) might be added to those tires when they enter the U.S., which could raise prices for U.S. importers and buyers of OTR tires.
