US Slaps Duties on Turkish Aluminum Foil Imports Again
Published Date: 7/14/2025
Notice
Summary
The U.S. checked if companies in Türkiye got unfair help (subsidies) while making aluminum foil in 2022 and found they did. Because of this, some extra taxes (countervailing duties) will apply to their aluminum foil imports to keep things fair for U.S. businesses. These changes affect anyone buying or selling this foil and will impact prices starting now.

Countervailing Duties on Turkish Foil
Commerce found that producers and exporters of certain aluminum foil from the Republic of Türkiye received countervailable subsidies during the period January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. As a result, imports of that aluminum foil will be subject to countervailing duties, which can raise costs for businesses that import or buy this foil and may lead to higher prices for customers.
