Summary
The U.S. Treasury’s OFAC just added some people and ships to a special blacklist because they broke important rules. This means any money or property they have in the U.S. is frozen, and Americans can’t do business with them. These changes take effect right away, so watch out if you’re connected!
Analyzed Economic Effects
2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.
Assets Frozen for Designated Parties
If you are one of the people or vessels added to OFAC's Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List, all property and interests in property subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked. This freeze applies immediately to any money or property the designated parties have in the United States.
U.S. Persons Barred From Transactions
If you are a U.S. person, you are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with anyone newly added to OFAC's SDN List. That prohibition is in effect immediately, so U.S. persons should not do business with the listed persons or vessels.
