The U.S. Treasury’s OFAC just added some people and a ship to a special blacklist, meaning their money and property in the U.S. are frozen. Analyzed Economic Effects
2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.
Assets of Named Persons Frozen
OFAC added named people and a vessel to its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List. All property and interests in property subject to U.S. jurisdiction of those persons and the vessel are blocked, which means their money and property in the U.S. are frozen; this is effective immediately.
U.S. Persons Barred From Transactions
U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with the named persons and the vessel placed on OFAC's SDN List. That means Americans and U.S. businesses may not do business with those listed and must avoid transactions that would be blocked; this prohibition is effective immediately.
