Summary

Texas Eastern Transmission is planning to build a new natural gas pipeline called the Appalachia to Market III Project to deliver more gas from Pennsylvania to local companies. Pipeline adds 32,000 dekatherms/day to Pennsylvania

Texas Eastern proposes the Appalachia to Market III Project to deliver about 32,000 dekatherms per day from Southwest Pennsylvania to delivery points in Pennsylvania. The company says the project would improve system reliability and provide extra transportation capacity for precedent agreements with two local gas distribution companies.

Local construction and compressor upgrades planned

The Project would abandon and remove about 2 miles of 24-inch Line 1 and replace it with about 2 miles of 36-inch pipe, remove and add pig receivers and valves, and modify the Bedford Compressor Station by uprating unit 13E from 26,000 horsepower to 35,500 horsepower and installing new equipment. These physical changes involve construction and equipment upgrades at specific sites in Pennsylvania.

You can comment on the EA starting October 10, 2025

FERC staff will issue an Environmental Assessment (EA) on October 10, 2025 and it will be released for a 30-day public comment period. The Commission set a Federal Authorization Decision deadline of January 8, 2026, and the Office of Public Participation and eSubscription are available to help members of the public follow the docket and file comments.
