New AI use rules for applicants

NIH issued guidance describing appropriate uses of artificial intelligence (AI) in research applications to help keep the application process fair and ensure originality. The guidance tells researchers and principal investigators what is acceptable when using AI in NIH applications.

Cap on applications per principal investigator

NIH is instituting a policy that limits the number of applications NIH will consider from each principal investigator in a calendar year. This means lead researchers cannot submit an unlimited number of NIH applications in the same calendar year.
