FAA Updates Safety Fixes for Dassault Falcon Planes

Published Date: 8/6/2025

Proposed Rule

Summary

If you fly a Dassault Falcon 7X, the FAA wants you to update your flight manual and equipment list to handle some tricky avionics problems. They’re also asking for a cool new fix to make your plane’s electronics stronger and safer. Some planes won’t need these updates anymore, but if yours does, expect to act soon and maybe spend a bit to keep flying safe and sound!

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.

Avionics System Modification Mandated

The proposed AD would require modification of the Falcon 7X avionics system (a manufacturer-developed fix to strengthen the avionics architecture) and related revisions to the AFM and MEL for affected airplanes. Operators of airplanes required to receive the modification must have that avionics change made and update manuals accordingly.

AFM Emergency Procedure Updates Required

If you operate a Dassault Falcon 7X airplane, the FAA would continue to require updates to the airplane flight manual (AFM) to add emergency procedures for inconsistent or unreliable flight data, procedures for generic input/output (GEN I/O) internal module failure, and other emergency information as required by AD 2022-12-10. This rule keeps that AFM revision requirement in force for the affected airplanes.

Minimum Equipment List Revisions Continued

If you operate a Dassault Falcon 7X airplane covered by AD 2022-12-10, the FAA would continue to require revisions to the minimum equipment list (MEL) for multi-function probe heating, air data, and inertial reference systems. Operators must update the MEL entries as required by the directive.

Some Falcons Removed From Applicability

The proposed AD would remove certain Dassault Falcon 7X airplanes from the rule's applicability, meaning those specific airplanes would no longer be subject to the AD requirements. Operators of airplanes removed from applicability would not have to perform the AD's required AFM/MEL changes or modifications.
