New Cable Qualification Standard Endorsed
The NRC issued Draft Guide DG-1442, Revision 1, on qualifying safety-related cables and field splices for production and utilization facilities and is asking for public comment. The draft endorses IEEE Standard 383-2023, subject to the conditions in Section C of the draft, and describes an approach the NRC staff considers acceptable for environmental qualification of those cables and splices.
