TVA to Buy Power from 200 MW Solar
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will execute a power purchase agreement (PPA) to buy electricity from a proposed 200-megawatt (MW) AC solar photovoltaic facility being developed by Hillsboro Solar, LLC on about 1,610 acres of a 3,779-acre site near Courtland and Hillsboro, Alabama. TVA says this action supports meeting the increased energy generation demand identified in its 2019 Integrated Resource Plan.
New 161-kV Substation and Grid Interconnection
To connect the Hillsboro Solar facility to TVA's grid, Hillsboro Solar, LLC will build a new on-site Hillsboro III Solar, AL 161-kilovolt (kV) substation and interconnect to TVA's adjacent Trinity-Nance 161-kV transmission line (proposed to be renamed Trinity-Brides Hill, Line L5832). The project includes physically tying the 200 MW solar facility into TVA's existing transmission infrastructure near U.S. Highway 72 Alternate/State Route 20.
