Renewable firms claim Exempt Wholesale Status

Multiple solar and wind companies (for example, Okolona Solar, Vaca Del Sol, Cap Ridge Wind Energy I–IV, Horse Hollow Wind Energy I–IV) filed Notices of Self-Certification of Exempt Wholesale Generator (EWG) status on August 20, 2025. The filings notify the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that these producers are claiming EWG status so they may operate under that status; the public comment date for these filings is 5:00 p.m. ET on September 10, 2025.

Applications for market-based wholesale rates

Several filings include applications for market-based rate authorization (for example, Cimarron Wind, LLC and Persica Solar, LLC) that list an intended effective date of October 20, 2025, with the filings submitted on August 20, 2025 and a comment date of 5:00 p.m. ET on September 10, 2025. These filings notify the Commission that the applicants seek permission to sell power under market-based rate authority.

Public comment and intervention deadline

If you want to intervene, protest, or comment on any of the listed filings, you must file by 5:00 p.m. Eastern time on September 10, 2025, following the Commission's rules (18 CFR 385.211, 385.214, or 385.206). Filing is required to become a party; protests may be considered without intervention.

Help for landowners and community participants

The Commission’s Office of Public Participation (OPP) offers help to members of the public, including landowners, community organizations, and Tribal members, to access information and make filings like interventions, comments, or rehearing requests; OPP contact is (202) 502-6595. The notice also provides an eLibrary link and eFiling guidance.
