Tank Trailer Flashing Brake Light Exemption
If you operate tank trailers, the exemption allows you to install a red or amber brake-activated pulsating lamp in the upper center or upper dual outboard position on the rear of the trailer, in addition to the steady-burning brake lamps already required. NTTC's current exemption runs from October 8, 2020, through October 8, 2025, and NTTC has requested a five-year renewal; FMCSA is asking for public comment before deciding. The renewal request is described as keeping roads safer without extra costs.
