York County Air Quality Maintained Through 2036
The EPA is proposing to approve South Carolina’s plan to keep the South Carolina portion of the Charlotte–Rock Hill area (York County Area) meeting the 2008 8-hour ozone standard through 2036. This plan aims to keep the air safe to breathe in York County by controlling pollution from cars and trucks and formally incorporates the plan into the State Implementation Plan (SIP).
Vehicle Emission Budgets Added to SIP
The plan adds motor vehicle emission budgets for nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) for the York County Area for the years 2018 and 2036 into the SIP. The EPA is also notifying the public about the adequacy determination for these 2018 and 2036 budgets, which will guide transportation and emissions planning related to cars and trucks in the York County Area.
