Summary
The U.S. Coast Guard wants to keep collecting important info about different types of vessels like tankers, passenger ships, and research boats—no changes, just an extension. This affects vessel owners and operators who need to keep their plans and records up to date. They’re asking for public feedback before sending the request to the Office of Management and Budget, so now’s the time to speak up!

Coast Guard extends vessel recordkeeping
The U.S. Coast Guard plans to extend its Information Collection (OMB Control Number 1625-0038) for plan approval and records for tank vessels, passenger vessels, cargo and miscellaneous vessels, mobile offshore drilling units, nautical school vessels, and oceanographic research vessels — without change. If you own or operate one of these vessels, you must continue to keep required plans and records up to date and comply with the existing paperwork requirements. The Coast Guard is inviting public comments before it submits the extension request to the Office of Management and Budget.
