Pilot Program Seeks Local Government Partners
The FAA is asking State, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments to submit proposals to run pilot projects that test electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and advanced air mobility (AAM) operations. Proposals must include a private sector partner with experience in eVTOL or AAM development, manufacturing, operations, or supporting technologies.
Focus on U.S.-Based eVTOL/AAM Manufacturers
The eVTOL and Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) continues DOT efforts to integrate eVTOL and other AAM aircraft that are developed or offered by United States–based entities into the National Airspace System. The program seeks partnerships that can test operational concepts for national and international scaling.
Participants Operate Under FAA Safety Oversight
SLTT governments and their private sector partner(s) will propose and define operational concepts for eVTOL/AAM operations under the safety oversight role of the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA will oversee safety for these pilot projects.
