Summary
From October 8 to 13, 2025, the Coast Guard will set up a special safety zone on the Ohio and Licking Rivers near Cincinnati during the America’s River Roots event. Boats and people can’t enter this area unless they get special permission, keeping everyone safe and the event running smoothly. If you’re on the water there, plan ahead and watch for updates!

Temporary safety zone on Ohio River
From October 8, 2025, through October 13, 2025, the Coast Guard would prohibit persons and vessels from entering the Ohio River between mile markers 466 and 475 and the Licking River between mile markers 0.0 and 0.3 near Cincinnati unless they are authorized by the Captain of the Sector Ohio Valley or a designated representative. If you boat, work, or operate on those river segments during those dates, you must plan alternate routes or get authorization to enter the regulated area.
