Chicago waterways closed for Tough Cup
On September 27, 2025, the Coast Guard will enforce a safety zone on parts of the Chicago River (South Branch) and the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, covering the Brandon Road Lock and Dam to Lake Michigan, for the Tough Cup XI Regatta. During that day, you may not enter, transit, or anchor inside the safety zone unless you have written permission from the Captain of the Port (COTP) Lake Michigan or a designated representative.
