Vietnam's Fiber Subsidies Trigger U.S. Extra Duties

Published Date: 9/30/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. says Vietnam’s makers of molded fiber products got unfair government help in 2023. Because of this, extra taxes (called countervailing duties) will be added to these products when they enter the U.S. This means importers from Vietnam will pay more starting now to keep things fair for American businesses.

Extra duties on Vietnam molded fiber imports

If you import thermoformed molded fiber products from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, extra taxes called countervailing duties will be added to those imports because the Department of Commerce found government subsidies during January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023. Importers will pay more when these products enter the United States.
