CDC Tweaks Emergency Form for Less Hassle

Published Date: 9/30/2025

Notice

Summary

The CDC is asking for public feedback on their Emergency Epidemic Investigation form to make sure it’s useful and not too much work for people to fill out. They’re giving everyone 30 more days to share thoughts before the form gets officially approved. This helps keep things clear, quick, and cost-effective for everyone involved.

CDC Seeks 3-Year EEI Extension

The CDC is asking OMB to extend the Emergency Epidemic Investigation (EEI) generic clearance (OMB Control No. 0920-1011) for another three-year period after it expires on 12/31/2025. This keeps CDC able to collect data during outbreaks or urgent public health events to identify causes and guide prevention and control measures.

Respondent Burden: 30 Minutes Each

If you are asked to take part in an EEI, CDC expects you will be asked to respond once and spend about 0.5 hours (30 minutes). CDC projects up to 20 EEIs per year with an average of 200 respondents per EEI (4,000 respondents total) for an estimated 2,000 annual burden hours; participation is voluntary and there are no anticipated monetary costs to respondents other than time.
