FDA Allows Gardenia Blue in Drinks
If you make sports drinks, flavored or enhanced non-carbonated water, fruit drinks and ades, ready-to-drink teas, hard candy, or soft candy, you may use gardenia (genipin) blue as a color additive starting August 29, 2025. The use must be at levels consistent with good manufacturing practice (GMP).
