VA Data Used to Check Medicaid Eligibility

If you apply for or receive Medicaid in your State Public Assistance Agency, your VA compensation and pension data may be checked to decide if you qualify. The program starts not sooner than 30 days after this notice and runs for an initial term of 18 months (from approximately October 2025 through May 2026).

VA Data Matched for SNAP, TANF, General Aid

State public assistance agencies will receive quarterly matches that compare Social Security Numbers to VA compensation and pension records to decide eligibility for SNAP, TANF, and general assistance programs. The Department of the Treasury's Do Not Pay system will run the comparisons and send detailed VA benefit data to the State agencies.

Notification and Match Verification Protections

You must be notified that your information may be verified through matching, and agencies must verify match findings before they suspend, reduce, or deny benefits. The notice states the program meets these Privacy Act requirements.

Matches May Help Veterans Learn VA Options

The matching program may be used to help relevant veterans understand VA benefits that could be better alternatives to public assistance. The program runs for an initial term beginning approximately October 2025 and may be renewed for 1 additional year.
