Medicare Part A deductible increases

If you have Medicare Part A, starting January 1, 2026 your inpatient hospital deductible will be $1,736. This is an increase from the CY 2025 deductible of $1,676.

Daily coinsurance set for long hospital and SNF stays

Starting January 1, 2026 Medicare Part A daily coinsurance rates will be: $434 for the 61st through 90th day of a hospital stay in a benefit period; $868 for lifetime reserve days; and $217 for days 21 through 100 of skilled nursing facility (SNF) care in a benefit period. These amounts are tied to the CY 2026 deductible.

Aggregate beneficiary cost increase in 2026

CMS estimates that the increase in the CY 2026 deductible and coinsurance amounts, together with changes in the number of payments, will raise total costs to Medicare beneficiaries by about $860 million in 2026. That estimate is rounded to the nearest $10 million and covers transfers from beneficiaries to providers.
