EPA Partially Grants US Steel Petition

On September 16, 2025, the EPA Administrator issued an order that granted in part and denied in part United States Steel Corporation's November 19, 2024 petition to object to Clean Air Act Title V operating permit no. 0052-OP22. The permit at issue is for the Mon Valley Works, Clairton by-products coke plant in Clairton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and the EPA order explains the basis for the decision and is available in the EPA Title V petition database.

Deadline to Seek Judicial Review

Sections 307(b) and 505(b)(2) of the Clean Air Act allow a petitioner to seek judicial review of portions of the EPA order that denied issues. Any petition for review must be filed in the United States Court of Appeals for the appropriate circuit no later than January 20, 2026.
