Round Lot Definition Update
If you own or trade stocks on the NYSE, the Exchange will change what counts as a “round lot” starting November 3, 2025. Under the new rule a round lot will be: 100 shares for stocks with an average closing price of $250.00 or less; 40 shares for $250.01–$1,000.00; 10 shares for $1,000.01–$10,000.00; and 1 share for $10,000.01 or more. The Exchange says this aligns its Rule 7.5 with Regulation NMS and will not impose extra costs.
