FAA Scraps Airbus Pre-Cooler Safety Checks as Unneeded

Published Date: 11/21/2025

Rule

Summary

If you fly or work with Airbus A350-941 and -1041 planes, good news! The FAA is canceling a previous rule that made airlines repeatedly check and fix a part called the pre-cooler exchanger because new info shows it’s not a real safety risk. This change starts November 21, 2025, and could save time and money on inspections and repairs.

Airbus A350 Inspection Rule Removed

If you operate or maintain Airbus SAS Model A350-941 or A350-1041 airplanes, the FAA removed Airworthiness Directive AD 2025-05-14 so you no longer must perform the repetitive pre-cooler exchanger (PCE) air-leak tests, report those test results, inspect thermal blankets because of those tests, or replace the PCE. This removal is effective November 21, 2025, and the rule states it adds no costs and terminates all requirements of AD 2025-05-14.
