Summary

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) wants your thoughts on their plan to collect some info from the public. They’re asking for comments by January 23, 2026, to make sure the process is clear, useful, and not too much work. This affects anyone who might provide info to CMS and helps keep things running smoothly without wasting time or money.

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 1 mixed.

QIN‑QIO Measure Data Collection Burden

If you are a provider/practice or a Quality Improvement (QI) contractor participating in the QIN‑QIO or AIAN programs, you will be asked to submit measure data quarterly to quantify performance and improvement. CMS says this is a new collection with 16,735 respondents, 66,940 annual responses, and a total annual burden of 1,471,284 hours.

Revised EDI Enrollment and New Attestation

Medicare providers, suppliers, billing vendors, and clearinghouses must use revised CMS EDI enrollment forms (CMS‑10164 series) and complete a new mandatory enrollment attestation to verify compliance; CMS estimates 229,767 respondents, 229,767 annual responses, and 153,178 total annual hours on a yearly frequency. The revisions also implement strengthened security requirements for billing vendors and clearinghouses that handle Medicare data.

MA Plans Must Submit Provider Data

Medicare Advantage (MA) organizations will be required to submit or make available their plan provider directory data to CMS/HHS in a format, manner, and timeframe determined by CMS, update directory information within 30 days of a change, and attest that the submitted information is accurate. CMS estimates 700 respondents, 1,400 annual responses, and 6,300 total annual hours for this collection.

Medicare Plan Finder Adds Provider Search

If you have Medicare, Medicare Plan Finder (MPF) will include search capability and information on Medicare Advantage organizations' contracted provider networks so you can shop for plans based on provider network, benefits, premiums, deductibles, and star ratings.
