DoD shares records with Treasury

The Department of Defense will share records from 18 named DoD systems with the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Do Not Pay Working System to identify, prevent, or recoup improper payments to applicants or recipients of Federal funds. This disclosure is described as a new routine use and is effective at the close of the comment period (December 26, 2025) unless modified. It applies to anyone whose information is in any of the listed DoD systems.

No change to collection or storage

The modification does not change where systems are located, who manages them, the categories of individuals or records maintained, or the authorities and methods of collection; it only adds a routine use to permit sharing with Treasury for Do Not Pay checks. The DoD says the change is meant to strengthen data sharing to prevent improper payments and improve financial integrity.
