2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Tribes can receive free forest products

Federally recognized Indian Tribes may receive trees, portions of trees, or other forest products free of charge under section 8105 of the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (codified at 25 U.S.C. 3055). Requests must be submitted in writing to the local Forest Service District Ranger's office by an authorized tribal official or by providing a tribal council resolution.

Permit paperwork and time burden for removals

Individuals, businesses, and State/Local/Tribal governments who remove forest products from National Forest System lands must request a permit or contract and provide identifying information. The Forest Service estimates 131,576 respondents and a total of 54,812 burden hours for this information collection (OMB Control Number 0596-0085); the information is used to verify eligibility, identify permittees in the field, and ensure no one receives product values above the amount allowed in any one fiscal year.
