Published Date: 12/5/2025

Notice

Summary

Rio Grande LNG wants to boost how much liquefied natural gas their Texas terminal can produce—going from 5.4 to about 6 million tons per year per train, totaling over 30 million tons annually. They won’t build new stuff, just squeeze more out of what’s already there. If you’re interested, you’ve got until a set deadline to speak up or get involved!

Deadline to Intervene and Comment

You can file comments, protests, or a motion to intervene in Docket CP26-31-000 for the Rio Grande LNG Production Increase Project. There is no fee to file, and the notice states the motion-to-intervene deadline as 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on December 23, 2025 (the document also includes a line listing December 23, 2026). If you successfully intervene, you have the right to request rehearing of Commission orders and to challenge those orders in the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Environmental Review Timeline and Notices

Within 90 days of this Notice, Commission staff will either complete its environmental review and place it in the public record or issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review. If a Notice of Schedule is issued, it will show the anticipated date for the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) or environmental assessment (EA), and federal and state agencies will need to complete all necessary federal authorizations within 90 days of the staff's FEIS or EA issuance.
