Notice

Summary

The FCC is checking in on a paperwork rule that affects small businesses and other companies using certain wireless equipment. They want your thoughts on how to make the process easier, clearer, and less time-consuming before February 9, 2026. This review won’t cost extra but aims to keep things smooth and fair for everyone involved.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

U-NII Filing for Large Outdoor Deployments

If you operate more than 1,000 outdoor access points using the 5.15–5.25 GHz band, you must submit a one-time letter to the FCC under Section 15.407(j) acknowledging that you will take corrective actions (for example, reducing power, turning off devices, or changing bands) if harmful interference occurs. The collection is estimated at 32 hours per response, with 5 respondents and a total annual burden of 160 hours; responding is required to obtain or retain benefits.

FCC Seeks Paperwork Relief for Small Firms

The FCC is asking for public comments, due February 9, 2026, on how to reduce paperwork burdens and specifically on ways to further reduce the information collection burden on small business concerns with fewer than 25 employees. This is part of the Paperwork Reduction Act review of OMB Control Number 3060-1199 and is meant to make the process clearer and less time-consuming.
