Extension of MLO Data Collection
The CFPB is requesting to extend its existing information collection for Registration of Mortgage Loan Originators (Regulation G) under OMB Control Number 3170-0005. This affects an estimated 261,638 respondents and an estimated total annual burden of 249,628 hours; comments are due by February 9, 2026.
MLO Registration and Consumer ID Disclosure
Regulation G requires covered financial institutions and their residential mortgage loan originators (MLOs) to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, obtain and maintain a unique identifier, and disclose that unique identifier to consumers; covered institutions must adopt written policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
