The Kansas State Historical Society finished an inventory of 240 associated funerary objects from the Kohr site (14SA414) in Saline County, KS. These objects (including bone, stone tools, pottery, shell, corn, and more) are eligible for repatriation and may be returned on or after January 15, 2026.

Pawnee Nation identified as culturally affiliated

The Kansas State Historical Society determined a cultural affiliation between these 240 objects and the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. Written requests for repatriation may be submitted by the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, other Indian Tribes or lineal descendants who demonstrate cultural affiliation, and repatriation may occur on or after January 15, 2026.
