Analyzed Economic Effects
4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 2 mixed.
Flood Maps Revised for Listed Communities
FEMA revised flood hazard determinations for specific communities listed in the notice. The changes update Base Flood Elevations (BFEs), base flood depths, Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries or zone designations, and the regulatory floodway on the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and, where applicable, the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports.
Community Floodplain Requirements for NFIP
FEMA states the revised FIRM and FIS reports are the basis for the floodplain management measures communities must adopt or show evidence of having in effect to qualify or remain in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) under 44 CFR 60.3. These are minimum requirements; communities may adopt stricter rules.
90-Day Reconsideration Window
From the date of the second publication of the notice in the local newspaper, any person has 90 days to request that the Assistant Administrator for the Federal Insurance Directorate reconsider the flood hazard determinations. You must submit requests for reconsideration through the community chief executive officer listed in the table.
Use Updated Community Number for Policies
The notice states that the current effective community number shown in the table must be used for all new flood insurance policies and renewals for the listed communities. Check the table in the notice or FEMA's Map Service Center for the current community number before buying or renewing a policy.
