Tribes Listed as Culturally Affiliated

The S'edav Va'aki Museum has determined that certain human remains and associated funerary objects are culturally affiliated with the Ak-Chin Indian Community; Gila River Indian Community; Hopi Tribe; Pueblo of Acoma; Salt River Pima‑Maricopa Indian Community; Tohono O'Odham Nation; and the Zuni Tribe. If you are a member of one of these tribes, the museum recognizes a connection to these items and the tribes may request repatriation starting February 6, 2026.

Who May Request Repatriation and Process Rules

Written repatriation requests must be sent to the museum's authorized representative and may be submitted by any one or more of the tribes named in this notice. Requests may also be submitted by any lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization not named here if they show by a preponderance of the evidence that they are affiliated; competing requests must be resolved by the museum and joint requests are treated as a single request. Repatriation may occur on or after February 6, 2026.
