Summary
The U.S. Department of Commerce is ending the special tax (antidumping duty) on plastic sheets from South Korea because no U.S. companies spoke up to keep it. This change starts January 12, 2026, and means those sheets might get cheaper in the U.S. market. If you’re a buyer or seller of these plastic sheets, this update could shake things up!
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.
Antidumping Duty Order Revoked
The Department of Commerce is revoking the antidumping duty (AD) order on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sheet from the Republic of Korea. The revocation is applicable January 12, 2026, meaning the AD order that began on September 10, 2020, will no longer be in effect after that date.
Suspension of Liquidation Terminated for Recent Entries
Commerce will instruct U.S. Customs and Border Protection to end the suspension of liquidation for PET sheet entries entered or withdrawn from warehouse on or after September 10, 2025. That means entries on or after September 10, 2025 will no longer remain under the AD suspension once instructions are issued.
Pre-Revocation Entries Still Subject
Entries of subject PET sheet made before the revocation effective date will remain subject to suspension of liquidation and antidumping deposit requirements. Commerce may still conduct administrative reviews of merchandise entered prior to the effective date in response to properly filed review requests.
