Repatriation Available to Florida Tribes

Who Can Request Repatriation

Written requests for repatriation must be sent to the Museum of the Cherokee People and may be submitted by any one or more of the Indian Tribes named in this notice, or by a lineal descendant or other Tribe/organization that shows by a preponderance of the evidence a cultural affiliation. Repatriation may occur on or after February 17, 2026, and the museum will decide among competing requests or accept joint requests as a single request.
