Temporary 500‑yard security zone
From January 13, 2026 through January 22, 2026, the Coast Guard established a security zone covering all navigable waters within a 500‑yard radius around the M/V COBIA LNG and M/V ORION SUN while they are loaded and in the Corpus Christi or La Quinta Ship Channels. No vessel or person may enter this zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port, Sector Corpus Christi.
Must get Coast Guard permission to enter
If you need to enter the security zone, you must get permission from the Captain of the Port or a designated representative. To seek permission, contact them on VHF‑FM channel 16 or by telephone at 1-800-874-2143; enforcement times and dates will be announced by Broadcast Notices to Mariners and Marine Safety Information Bulletins.
