Wetland ID Rules Changed in Three States
The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is proposing new State Off‑Site Methods (SOSM) for identifying wetlands in Kansas, Nebraska, and New Jersey. For Kansas and Nebraska the SOSM would replace the Northern Plains Region Wetland Determination and Delineation Procedure (March 1998), and New Jersey would get a new procedure; these SOSM will be used for wetland determinations that affect USDA program eligibility. NRCS will consider public comments received by February 27, 2026.
