Airworthiness Directives; Embraer S.A. (Type Certificate Previously Held by Yaborã Indústria Aeronáutica S.A.; Embraer S.A.) Airplanes

Rule
Summary
The FAA is updating safety rules for Embraer ERJ 190-300 and -400 airplanes because their flight manuals had a mistake in the takeoff calculations. Pilots must update their manuals with the new, corrected version by February 17, 2026, to keep flying safely. This fix helps avoid risks without big costs but must be done on time to keep planes in the sky.
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.
Fix AFM Takeoff Calculations
If you operate an Embraer ERJ 190-300 or ERJ 190-400 airplane, you must revise the airplane flight manual to incorporate CAFM version 2.0 (or later) by February 17, 2026. This corrects an inconsistency in the takeoff calculation module that could otherwise cause the airplane to be unable to overcome obstacles in the first takeoff segment in the event of an engine failure.
Low One-Time Compliance Cost
If an affected Embraer airplane is imported and placed on the U.S. Register in the future, the FAA estimates the required AFM revision will take 1 work-hour at $85 total per airplane. That $85 estimate is the FAA's projected cost per product to accomplish the required action.
No Immediate U.S. Impact
The FAA states there are currently no U.S.-registered Embraer ERJ 190-300 or -400 airplanes, so there are no immediate compliance costs for U.S. operators; the AD nevertheless becomes effective February 17, 2026 if an affected airplane is later registered. The FAA will accept comments on this AD through March 19, 2026.
