Indian Gaming; Approval by Operation of Law of the Amendment to the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska-Kansas Gaming Compact
Published Date: 2/6/2026
Notice
Summary
The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska’s gaming compact with Kansas just got an upgrade! Starting February 6, 2026, the tribe can offer sports betting using a cool hub-and-spoke system that counts bets placed anywhere in the state as if they’re on tribal land. Since the government didn’t act in time, this change automatically got the green light, opening new gaming opportunities and potential revenue for the tribe.

Statewide Tribal Sports Betting Authorized
If you place sports wagers anywhere in Kansas, those bets can be treated as if they occurred on the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska's Indian lands where the tribe's servers are located, using a hub-and-spoke model. This rule takes effect on February 6, 2026 and applies only if the wager is not placed on another Tribe's Indian lands.
Hub Model Excludes Other Tribes' Lands
The Amendment makes clear that the hub-and-spoke rule cannot treat wagers placed on another Tribe's Indian lands as wagers on the Iowa Tribe's lands. This limitation is effective February 6, 2026.
