More Pesticides Hit the EPA Exit: Stock Up or Ship Out

Published Date: 2/10/2026

Notice

Summary

The EPA is officially canceling or ending certain pesticide uses that companies asked to stop back in August 2025. This change affects farmers, pesticide sellers, and anyone using these products, with the new rules kicking in on February 10, 2026. If you have leftover products, you can use or sell them only as the EPA allows, so plan ahead to avoid surprises or extra costs!

Analyzed Economic Effects

5 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 3 costs, 2 mixed.

Certain Pesticide Registrations Canceled Feb 10, 2026

The EPA canceled the pesticide registrations listed in Tables 1 and 2, and that cancellation is effective February 10, 2026. This change applies to farmers, pesticide sellers, and anyone using the listed products, who must follow the terms of the cancellation order after that date.

One-Year Existing Stocks Sale Window

For most canceled products listed in Table 1, registrants may continue to sell and distribute existing stocks until February 10, 2027 (one year after the cancellation), after which sale or distribution is prohibited except for export or proper disposal. Persons other than the registrant may sell, distribute, or use existing stocks until supplies are exhausted so long as use is consistent with the previously approved labeling.

Extended 18‑Month Stocks Rule for Some Products

Two categories have an 18‑month existing‑stocks allowance: product 5383-146 (Troyshield FSP40) may be sold and distributed until August 10, 2027, and products amended in Table 2 may be sold under previous labeling until August 10, 2027. After August 10, 2027, those products may no longer be sold or distributed except for export or proper disposal.

Specific Uses Terminated: Tobacco and Residential Turf

EPA amended registrations to terminate specific uses: registration 42750-58 (Glyphosate 62% isopropylamine salt) has 'Tobacco' use terminated, and registration 85678-4 (Ethephon 78%) has residential turf/lawns, institutional turf, parks, recreational fields, and sod farm uses terminated. If you grow tobacco or manage residential/institutional turf, these terminated uses take effect February 10, 2026.

Sale/Use Inconsistent with Order Is Prohibited

Any sale, distribution, or use of the canceled products that is inconsistent with the existing‑stocks provisions in this order will be a violation of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). You must follow the disposition rules or face enforcement under FIFRA.
