Temporary DC Waterway Access Ban
From 4:00 p.m. on February 24, 2026 until 2:00 a.m. on February 25, 2026, the Coast Guard will enforce a security zone covering Zones 1–3 of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers in Washington, DC (detailed boundary coordinates in Sec. 165.508(a)). Entry into or remaining in these zones is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port.
Exemptions for Public and Berthed Vessels
Public vessels and vessels already at berth when the security zone is implemented are allowed to remain and do not have to depart. Vessels underway should plan to have departed the regulated area before enforcement begins, and the Captain of the Port may suspend enforcement early via a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
