EMRS Reporting Extended Three Years

If you own or operate a livestock or poultry facility, APHIS is requesting to keep the Emergency Management Response System (EMRS) information collection for an additional 3 years (OMB Control Number 0579-0071). APHIS estimates 158 respondents will each make about 156 responses per year (24,703 total responses) at an average of 1 hour per response, for an estimated total annual burden of 24,703 hours. Comments on this extension are being accepted through April 21, 2026.

Detailed Animal and Premises Data Collected

When a potential foreign animal disease incident is investigated, a veterinary diagnostician collects and submits detailed epidemiological and diagnostic data into EMRS. The data listed include purpose of visit, suspected disease, operation type, number and type of animals, number sick or dead, physical and necropsy exam results, vaccination and biosecurity information, recent animal movements, test samples taken, and detailed geographic premises location.
