Etruscan Exhibition Approved in CA and TX
The U.S. Department of State has approved the temporary import and display of certain culturally significant Etruscan objects for the exhibition “The Etruscans: From the Heart of Ancient Italy” at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Legion of Honor (San Francisco, California) and the San Antonio Museum of Art (San Antonio, Texas). The notice says these objects may also travel to additional venues yet to be determined, allowing visitors in those cities to see rare artifacts on temporary loan.
Temporary Import Authorized Under Loan Agreements
The Department determined that certain objects imported pursuant to agreements with their foreign owners or custodians may be temporarily displayed in the United States because they are of cultural significance and their exhibition is in the national interest. This determination authorizes museums and lenders to proceed under those loan agreements for temporary import and display.
