Notice

Summary

The government wants to keep collecting info for the Child Care and Development Fund’s website and serious injury reports for three more years, with no changes to the rules. This affects all 50 states, DC, and 5 territories that get CCDF money, plus child care providers who must report serious injuries or deaths. Comments are open until May 4, 2026, and the paperwork burden has been updated but won’t cost extra.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Serious Injury and Death Reporting Stays

CCDF lead agencies must continue to require child care providers who care for children receiving CCDF subsidies to report any serious injuries or deaths of children to a designated state, territorial, or tribal entity. The paperwork burden for provider reporting remains estimated at 10,000 annual burden hours (10,000 respondents × 1 hour) and states/territories may structure reporting procedures flexibly.

CCDF Consumer Website Continues

The rule continues the Child Care and Development Fund consumer education website requirement for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 5 territories. State/territory websites must include information about licensing, monitoring, background checks, provider-specific monitoring and inspection results, and quality information; the information-collection is being extended for 3 years (OMB #0970-0473).
