Annual Grants Funding Total
IMLS distributes approximately $180,000,000 each year among State Library Administrative Agencies (SLAAs) using a population-based formula to support library services. The funding goes to SLAA recipients in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories (Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), and the Freely Associated States.
State Library Reporting Burden
State and Territory Library Administrative Agencies (SLAAs) must submit annual State Program Reports and file interim and final financial and performance reports for two-year grants through IMLS's State Program Report (SPR) system. IMLS estimates an average burden of 47.83 hours per SLAA each year for the SPR, 20 hours for the embedded Site Visit Checklist once every five years, 59 annual respondents, 3,058 total annual burden hours, and a total annual cost burden of $101,708.
