Summary
DMG Blockchain Solutions Inc. wants to get permission to export electricity from the U.S. to Canada for another 10 years. Their previous 5-year approval expired in August 2025, so they’re applying fresh under a new case number. If you have thoughts or concerns, you’ve got until April 22, 2026, to speak up—this could impact energy flow and business between the two countries.
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
10-Year Export Request to Canada
DMG Blockchain Solutions filed on December 15, 2025 for a new authorization (docket EA-530) to export electric energy from the United States to Canada for a ten-year term. Its prior five-year authorization (docket EA-482) lapsed on August 28, 2025. DOE will decide whether to grant the new ten-year export authorization after review.
Use of Presidential-Permit Transmission
The application says the international transmission facilities DMG would use were previously authorized by Presidential permits under Executive Order 10485 (as amended) and are suitable for open access transmission by third parties. That means other market participants could also access those cross‑border transmission links to move power.
Purchasing Surplus U.S. Wholesale Power
DMG says it will buy electric energy at wholesale from U.S. suppliers (including utilities, federal power marketing agencies, qualifying facilities, exempt wholesale generators, and power marketers) and that the energy it exports will be surplus to the needs of the sellers and any U.S. customers served by DMG or its affiliates. DMG also states it does not own U.S. generation or hold a franchised U.S. service territory.
