Paperwork burden on poultry plants
If you run an official poultry slaughter establishment, FSIS requires you to keep written procedures and records as part of HACCP, sanitation SOPs, or other prerequisite programs to prevent contamination and to document ready-to-cook status. FSIS estimates 289 respondents, 5,292 annual responses per respondent, and a total annual burden of 191,204 hours; the information collection approval expires August 31, 2026.
Continued federal poultry safety verification
FSIS will continue collecting inspection and recordkeeping information under the New Poultry Inspection System to verify poultry products are safe, wholesome, and properly labeled. The records support requirements to prevent contamination by enteric pathogens (for example, Salmonella and Campylobacter) and visible fecal material and to prevent contaminated carcasses from entering the chiller.
