Published Date: 4/6/2026

Notice

Summary

NYSE American just got the green light to list options on trusts holding multiple crypto assets, not just one. This means investors can trade options on baskets of cryptocurrencies that each meet certain size and market rules. The change kicks in right away and could open up fresh trading opportunities without extra approvals.

Options on Crypto Multi-Asset Trusts

The SEC approved on April 1, 2026 a rule change letting NYSE American list and trade options on Commodity-Based Trusts that hold multiple crypto assets. You (as an investor with investments) could gain new opportunities to buy, sell, or hedge using options tied to baskets of cryptocurrencies.

Liquidity and Surveillance Entry Rules

Each crypto asset in a multi-asset Commodity-Based Trust must have an average daily market value of at least $700,000,000 over the last 12 months and must underlie a derivatives contract that trades on a market with which the Exchange has a comprehensive surveillance sharing agreement. These rules decide which crypto assets can be included in trusts whose shares underlie listed options.

Monthly Suspension If Asset Drops Below Threshold

The Exchange may suspend opening transactions in options on a Commodity-Based Trust if any crypto asset in the trust no longer has an average daily market value of at least $700,000,000 over the last 12 months, as determined monthly, or no longer meets the surveillance-derivatives requirement. If suspended, you could be prevented from opening new option positions on that trust until the issue is resolved.

ETF Option Rules and Surveillance Apply

Options on these Commodity-Based Trust shares will trade under the same ETF-options listing, trading, margin, and position-limit rules that already apply on NYSE American, and the Exchange will apply its existing surveillance and reporting safeguards. You will trade these options under the Exchange's standard ETF options rules and surveillance designed to detect possible manipulation.
