Who May Request Repatriation
Requests for repatriation may be submitted by any of the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations named in the notice, or by any lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization that shows by a preponderance of the evidence cultural affiliation. If there are competing requests, the Kansas State Historical Society will determine the most appropriate requestor; joint requests count as a single request.

The Kansas State Historical Society determined that the 278 associated funerary objects are connected to the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. That determination is part of the inventory and supports repatriation actions involving the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma.
