EPA Frees Up Polymer Mix for Pesticide Freedom Ride
Published Date: 4/10/2026
Rule
Summary
The EPA just made it official: certain chemicals used in pesticides don’t need a safety limit on food or feed anymore. This change helps farmers, food makers, and pesticide companies by cutting red tape starting April 10, 2026. If anyone disagrees, they have until June 9, 2026, to speak up. This means smoother, faster pesticide approvals without extra costs or delays!

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.
Tolerance Exemption for Specific Polymer
The EPA exempted residues of a specific polymer (Hexanedioic acid, polymer with sodium 2-[(2-aminoethyl)amino]ethanesulfonate (1:1), 1,6-diisocyanatohexane, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol, 1,2-ethanediamine and 1,6-hexanediol; CAS No. 67815-81-0; number average molecular weight 64,900 Daltons) from the requirement to establish a tolerance on food or feed. This exemption is effective April 10, 2026 and removes the need to set a maximum permissible residue level when the substance is used as an inert ingredient in pesticide formulations.
No Enforcement Test or Numeric Limit Needed
Because EPA established an exemption without any numerical tolerance, no analytical enforcement method is required for this polymer when used as an inert ingredient. This removes a testing and monitoring requirement that would otherwise apply to food, feed, and pesticide product compliance.
EPA Finds Polymer Safe for Public
EPA determined there is a reasonable certainty of no harm to the U.S. population, including infants and children, from aggregate exposure to this polymer when used as an inert ingredient. EPA reviewed toxicity and exposure data, found the polymer meets low-risk polymer criteria, and concluded no additional safety factor is needed for children.
